The 85 percent rule of Optimal Learning is a well researched, scientifically explained thesis that says "If you have an error rate of 15% or accuracy of 85%, you are always maximizing your rate of learning ...”
There’s also reason to think following the 85 percent rule could help people enter a flow state — a feeling of being “in the zone” that occurs when you’re fully immersed in a task that’s appropriately challenging.
It does makes sense to fail; to optimise your learning and also accept and embrace failure as a necessary component to success. The overhype of "success stories" is not counterbalanced by the failure or the perseverance story. Its often the podium that is highlighted, not the staircase that leads to it.
